My Top 3 Priorities

  • Infrastructure: DPSC lacks clear policies on how we do things and needs a good fundraiser. I serve on the board currently and know these are huge issues. We often have fights over how things are done instead of focusing on our mission.
  • Diversity: We do not represent everyone - there are far to few women and minorities on DPSC. I will actively work to change that.
  • Engaging other democrats. We see the same people at our meetings. We need to engage democrats in the central committee. We need to try new things and reach out to young democrats in particular.

I am currently Director of Legislative Affairs for Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 1000. Prior to joining SEIU Local 1000, I was Senior Consultant with the California State Assembly Committee on Accountability and Administrative Review. I have a diverse non-profit advocacy background that has given me the opportunity to work on numerous policy areas including health, labor, education, environment, and civil rights. I'm the immediate past President of the Stonewall Democratic Club of Greater Sacramento, an LGBT democratic organization supporting LGBT candidates for public office and Secretary for the Sacramento County Democratic Party. I have served as Government Affairs Director for Equality California, California’s statewide LGBT civil rights organization.  I'm a proud 2009 graduate from the Cornell Institute for Public Affairs (CIPA) with a Master’s Degree in Public Administration with a focus on Government, Politics, and Policy and I have Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish with a minor in Computer Information Systems from the University of La Verne. I am also a veteran of the United State Marine Corps.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

Do the most good for the most people for as long as I can. This is a bit of a quote (I don't know where it comes from) but I love it and it reflects who I ama and what I do.

I grew up poor and an undocument immigrant. I fight for poor and working people to ensure they are treated fairly and have opportunity - the American dream.
