After leaving home at the young age of 16, learning to juggle three jobs, finishing high school and attending college, Caitlin learned the meaning of hard work and working against the odds to succeed. To obtain her goal of a higher education, she worked for over seven years in the restaurant industry waiting tables and bartending while attending college. After earning two associate’s degrees from American River College, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of California, Davis, Caitlin knew the struggles of being a non-traditional student trying to make ends meet. After school, Caitlin began on a path toward catalyzing social change in order to improve the lives of those around her. From that point on, she vowed to use her time and energy to ensure our societal and governing systems provide the necessary services in the most efficient and effective ways, to those who need them the most.
Caitlin transitioned from education to the California state Capitol working in the Office of the Chief Clerk of the Assembly, where she had the opportunity to gain a deep understanding of the legislative process, while building a network within the Capitol community. She now uses skills learned from her years of customer service, along with her legislative knowledge and passion, toward effective, efficient and sustainable systems change by using her role with the bipartisan governance improvement organization titled California Forward. As an expert on California election administration and funding, she produces media content, speaks at conferences, and presents to agencies, legislative staff and other stakeholders.
Caitlin is also active in the Sacramento community. She is a member of several boards, committees, various clubs and volunteer groups including Habitat for Humanity. Among her other interests, Caitlin’s passion is in empowering women to become leaders. She is currently building a coalition to empower women in Sacramento.
