Biografía

I was born and raised in Chicago.  I received my B.A. in Psychology from University of Illinois where I met and married my husband Steve.  After college, we moved to L.A. where Steve got his Ph.D. from UCLA and I received my Juris Doctorate (JD) from Southwestern University.  After law school, I received a Master’s in tax law from Georgetown University Law Center.

After working in the tax department of a large accounting firm for a few years I took a job in the corporate law department of an Orange County law firm.  I then went on to open my own practice representing businesses.

We moved to Rancho Santa Margarita in 1989 where I helped a dedicated group of RSM residents trying to make Rancho Santa Margarita into a city. With the success of their efforts, RSM became California’s 33rd city in1999 and I served as RSM’s first Mayor.

I have served as President of the RSM Chamber of Commerce, a South Orange County Regional Chamber board member, on former OC Supervisor Tom Wilson’s ‘kitchen cabinet’ and Vice President of my local bar association.

Steve and I have 2 grown, professional children and 4 grandkids.  I enjoy the grandkids, Yoga, skiing, cooking and loved just taking my first surf lesson.

Filosofía política

The term Public Service says it all.  I believe elected officials’ duty is to serve the needs of residents first, not special interests or further the agenda of the political machine, as happens all to often.  Government must be transparent above all else. Public trust is our stock in trade.  Nothing erodes trust faster than secrecy.  Finally, officials must spend other peoples’ money, i.e. the taxypayers' money, responsibly and in the best interests of the community as a whole.
