Análisis del analista legislativo / Proposal

Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk

This Charter Amendment (“Measure”) was placed on the ballot by the City Council. If approved by the voters, it would amend City Charter Section 504 to increase the salaries for the Mayor and members of the City Council. Section 504 of the City Charter currently provides that the Mayor and each member of the City Council receive a salary of $600.00 per month, which amounts to an annual salary of $7,200.00. This Measure would amend Section 504 to:

1. Increase the annual salary of the Mayor to $54,000.00.

2. Increase the annual salary of each member of the City Council to $43,000.00.

This Measure requires a majority vote for approval. A “yes” vote is a vote in favor of amending the City Charter to increase the salaries for the Mayor and members of the City Council. A “no” vote is a vote in favor of rejecting the proposed amendment to the City Charter and maintaining the current salaries for the Mayor and members of the City Council.
