My Top 3 Priorities

  • Traffic- To reduce traffic congestion through improvements to our highways and expand and improve our public transportation system.
  • Housing and Homelessness. To increase affordable housing for seniors and to retain critical service providers, and improve wrap around services to tackle homelessness such as mental health, and job training services.

Profession:Dublin City Councilmember
Councilmember, City of Dublin California — Elected position (2016–current)

Cal State East Bay (2018)

Melissa Hernandez is the 5th of 7 children of migrant farm workers. Her family spent two crop seasons in the camps where her family of 9 lived in a two room house  Through grit, determination, and the help of compassionate neighbors, her parents lifted their family out of the fields. It’s from her parents that Melissa learned that life doesn’t hand you what you want or need. You have to persevere. After becoming a young mom, Melissa put school on hold and planted roots with her son and daughter in Dublin, where she became a tireless volunteer in the Tri-Valley community. While juggling a family, a job, and completing her college degree at Cal State East Bay, Melissa stepped up and won a seat on the Dublin City Council. She’s been delivering results ever since reducing traffic congestion and balancing responsible growth and economic development, while preserving the quality of life for families.  Melissa serves on the Boards of Valley Link and Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA). Dublin Economic Development Committee is the Former Chair, Human Services Commission, and a Committee member on the Parks and Rec Task Force and Committee on the Status of Women.
