My Top 3 Priorities

  • Prioritize our Homeless crisis the city is experiencing by helping people to get shelter, provide access to public showers daily, and coordinate to make available mental health and drug addiction services. as needed
  • Ensure safe neighborhoods and parks by increase our police officers, enforce laws, and support an active Neighborhood Watch program with resources
  • Protect our Environment with sustainable policies that will ensure access to clean water, clean renewable energy, and oppose any oil drilling in our open space hillsides.

A son of Mexican immigrants, Louis Reyes, has called Whittier home for 28 years. Now, along with his wife and two children, mom, and siblings--four generations of his family live in Whittier.

Louis attended Rio Hondo College, where he served as AS President and Student Trustee. He transferred to the University of Southern California and then graduated with a degree in public policy and management.

For 20 years, he has advocated for government reform. Louis was a founding member of the Whittier Latino Coalition that supported council districts and increasing civic participation. His other volunteer activities include serving on the California Latino Caucus Institute board, Plaza de la Raza Child Development board, and Sustainable City board.

Louis possesses eight years of executive and legislative experience working for the government. He worked for both the California Assembly and State Senate, representing the Whittier greater Whittier area in a management capacity managing issues such as the Nelles closure, the budget crisis due to the great recession, and the Metro Gold Line Eastside extension.
