Preguntas y Respuestas

Preguntas de League of Women Voters of California (3)

What financing method(s) would you support to repair or improve roads, rails, ports, airports, the electrical grid, and other infrastructure in the U.S.?
Respuesta de Roque "Rocky" De La Fuente:

There was a time when American cities were among the most magnificent in the world.  Their charm matched the innovative genius and "hard work" character trait that defines American workers today.  But what we see today is a tragedy.  Politicians in Washington don't prioritize the infrastructure of our country that demands to nurture.  Doing so creates millions of competitive jobs for American workers.

If elected I will guide federal legislation to repair and replace our dilapidated infrastructure (including transportation-related projects and utility-related projects involving the electrical grid, potable water, and sewage systems, etc.). These expenditures are necessary and proper and would proportionately inure to the benefit of all states, which are desperately in need of such assistance.

Investing in America's infrastructure will create millions of competitive jobs, and our country will become the epicenter of renewable energy research and deployment. Our country has enormous natural solar and wind advantages that we need to exploit. Not only will that approach attract high paying jobs, but it will also reduce long-term energy costs and help preserve our environment and beautiful coastline.

We must reduce frivolous government regulation that often suffocates growth and redirects capital from jobs to compliance.

Sart regulations that provide for the health, safety and general welfare of the public are essential, but we will reform or eliminate regulations imposed for less altruistic reasons or that are relics from the past that serves no useful purpose in the present Freeing up the related capital now spent on compliance will kick start job growth.

What programs or legislation, if any, would you support to help Americans of all ages to secure affordable health care?
Respuesta de Roque "Rocky" De La Fuente:

As President, we will focus on the original goals of health care reform that have somehow been lost in Washington; lowered cost, improved quality, and open access.

We must guide reform in a way that addresses ever-increasing costs alongside decreasing access. Substantive tort reform needs to have a seat at the table of discussion, as does pharmaceutical advertising since it disproportionately adds cost.  We will maximize access to healthcare for everyone while minimizing costs.

Good health is a need, not a luxury, and good healthcare should not be reserved for the privileged few but made available to the masses.

Describe an immigration policy that you would support if presented to the House of Representatives.
Respuesta de Roque "Rocky" De La Fuente:

Together we will sign into law comprehensive reform.

The first thing we must do is acknowledge that there is a problem. The current approach is Anti-American. We have a labor shortage. Some people want jobs. Let’s match them up for overall economic prosperity.

We can maintain secure borders without abandoning the values upon which this great nation was founded.  While we do not need a “wall,” we must increase our military presence along the southern border.  But President Trump’s idea of banning immigrants based on their religion is unconstitutional and un-American.

Children of illegal immigrants born in the United States should be granted legal citizenship with the same access to government healthcare, in-state tuition, access to student aid offered to all Americans.

Any American who commits a violent crime should be detained.   But the policy of detaining immigrants for petty crimes and then sending them to federal immigration authorities are un-American.

Finally, we must make it easier for high-skilled immigrants to access temporary work visas.

Our economy relies on businesses hiring the highest skilled workers at the lowest cost.
