Address Climate Change Locally & Protect Our Environment

Let's work to tackle the issue that touches all others including transit, emergency preparedness, lour built environment and housing.

Address Climate Change

Max is running to make Mill Valley a model for other small cities near and far to follow for best practices. We have both the talent and treasure to make it happen. What we need is the political will to act, and the dedication to follow through.

Max wants to quickly implement low hanging fruit measures so we can turn to even bigger, bolder policy changes that will demand an inside-outside approach to accomplish.

  • Pass a Climate Emergency Resolution that lays out a roadmap for local actions

  • Create a City Commission made up of resident experts to oversee implementation

  • Follow Sausalito and San Anselmo’s lead, and work with the business community to pass a single-use plastics ordinance

  • Increase EV charging stations and green the vehicle fleet

  • Work with the water district to implement water saving policies, including greywater

  • Ban toxic chemical pesticides on city property and require neighbor notification for private property

Prepare for Emergencies and Plan for Safe Evacuation during Disasters

Let's work together to prioritize public safety and plan for emergencies, and evacuation scenarios.

Prepare for Emergencies

As a member of the Emergency Preparedness Commission and CERT, Max has seen firsthand the seriousness with which they approach their role. Mill Valley is exceptionally well served by professional dedicated fire and police departments, trained CERT volunteers, and our Search and Rescue Team.

These are the professionals who work every day to prepare for when a disaster strikes. Max believes that our dedicated emergency responders need our support.

If elected, he will work with colleagues, the City Manager and Fire Department Chief to ascertain what resources first responders need to be fully staffed to meet the needs of the community.

  • Improve staffing ratio and increase funding for Fire Department and paramedic staff.

  • Create and implement a comprehensive evacuation plan

  • Create grant program to assist homeowners with the new vegetation management requirements

  • Fix the Long Range Acoustical Device (LRAD) alert system and fully fund the Neighborhood Response Groups

  • Support the Neighborhood Response Groups (NRGs)

  • Maintain the Steps, Lanes and Paths to a high standard and ensure they are clearly marked

Support Our Local Small Businesses

Let's work together to support our resident serving businesses who are under threat from e-commerce, regional malls, big box stores and rising rents.

Support Local Small Businesses

Our local businesses face many challenges. Retail, restaurant and office space rents that continue to rise. Competition from regional malls and e-commerce giants. A recession potentially coming in the next five years. Max’s promise if elected is for city government to be a partner, and not a burden on local small businesses.

  • Review code requirements and ensure that downtown businesses are set up to flourish

  • Support local merchants over big box and chains

  • Promote Mill Valley as a place to eat, drink, shop and enjoy cultural attractions

  • Work with the Chamber to bring even more community events to highlight our town
