My Top 3 Priorities

  • Responsible Development, protecting Redondo Beach from traffic and overcrowding from large commercial and residential developments.
  • Focusing on Traffic, Pedestrian, and Public Safety. Traffic strains our infrastructure and jeopardizes schoolchildren’s and residents’ safety.
  • Solid Financial Management, and Attracting Tomorrow's Businesses. Streamlining city spending, eliminating waste and cronyism, attracting high-paying jobs to Redondo Beach.

I served on the Redondo Beach School Board from 2005-2013, including 2 years as President, ensuring school modernization projects were completed on time and on budget.  Redondo schools are now top-ranked in California.

As R4’s President, I led the campaign defeating Measure B, AES’ plan for nearly 600 condos, commercial buildings and a hotel, which would have clogged streets and overcrowded schools.  AES spent $1.2 million pushing B – we defeated it, spending only $16,000!

Worked for more than 20 yrs in the Digital Rights Management, content delivery network, cable TV, and entertainment industries. Played instrumental role in taking two companies (InterVU and Evoke/Raindance) public on the NASDAQ stock exchange. Have experience doing business not only in the US, but also Latin America, Europe, and Asia. Fluent in Spanish.

I earned a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota and a BA from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

I currently work as the Senior Director of Sales, The Americas for castLabs. I'm responsible for creating new business opportunities and partnerships for company in North and South America. castLabs provides organizations with DRM/content protection, DASH video player SDKs, transcoding, and video delivery. Closed deals with some of the largest Internet video sites and OVPs, including Vimeo, Brightcove, Fullscreen, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Cinepolis,, and CBC/Radio Canada.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

I have a long history of working with other elected officials to get work accomplished. For example, when I was serving on the Redondo Beach School Board, I put aside my differences with some fellow board members in order to pass a major school bond, and then to carry out the modernization efforts, to produce projects that were done on time and on budget. I believe the results are impressive and speak for themselves.

Elected officials need to remember why they chosen by the residents, who are ultimately their bosses. It’s important to listen to their constituents, as well as other council members, because you’ll learn from them.

I'm not for big or small government, just efficient and effective government.
