Born and raised in Huntington Park, Laura Herrera knows what the city and its residents need to prosper and thrive. What Huntington Park needs is great leadership.

A leader who is intelligent and experienced. A leader who has the best interest of their community in mind. A leader who is accountable, transparent and ethical. And a leader who can transform Huntington Park into a newer and brighter future. When elected to City Council, she will be that leader for Huntington Park!

Laura learned to be a great leader throughout her professional life by giving her community and the underserved a voice.

In June 2016, she was elected to the Los Angeles County Democratic Party Central Committee and currently sits on the Board of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Southern California. She also participates in a nationwide think-tank for the Center for American Progress Faith and Reproductive Justice Leadership Institute in Washington, DC.

Previously, Laura has served as the Director of the Los Angeles Coalition for Reproductive Justice, advocating for the rights of women and their families, especially in low income and immigrant communities. She has also worked as the Development Manager for the California Women’s Law Center, the Constituent Case Manager for the California State Assembly and has managed several local, state and federal campaigns.

Laura has always been active in improving her beloved city. She started her service in high school as a Huntington Park Youth Commissioner and recently served as the Chair of the Huntington Park Planning Commission for three years of her four-year term. She currently continues her service as a member of the Friends of the Huntington Park Library, dedicated to preserving literacy programs for children and adults of the Southeast.

Laura continued her education at Ramona Convent Secondary School and she graduated from Loyola Marymount University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Spanish.

In these uncertain times, Huntington Park needs to elect a councilmember who they can trust to serve in the best interest of our city’s residents. Laura Herrera will protect Huntington Park against corruption and will fight for justice and better opportunities for each resident of the city.
