Mis 3 prioridades principales

  • Protecting our neighborhoods by improving community safety measures at all levels, and promoting traffic safety around our homes, schools and parks.
  • Maintaining Lakewood’s single family character, modernizing our parks and recreational facilities, enhancing our Senior and Youth Services, and improving educational opportunities for Lakewood’s children.
  • Effectively managing the city’s financial resources and budgets, and continuing to support and develop our strong business community, while managing our natural resources by embracing sustainability concepts.

I remember growing up as a child on Pioneer Blvd in the 1960’s how important Bloomfield Park was to me and my siblings.  It was a great place to play, learn sports and hang out with our friends.  As an adult I came to appreciate the benefits of having safe parks and neighborhoods where I could raise my family.  And for the last twelve years I’ve had the honor and privilege to serve you on the Lakewood City Council and to make sure that today’s families have those same benefits and more.  Lakewood’s motto is ‘Time change, Values don’t’, as a Council Member and Mayor twice I know the importance of holding on to our community’s values of safe neighborhoods, great services and strong fiscal management.  And I’m proud of the job I and my colleagues on the City Council have done for our citizens.  We’ve modernized our Parks and Programs, invested in vital infrastructure, roads and facilities.  We’ve made our City greener thru recycling programs, the use of alternative fuel vehicles, installation of energy efficient LED street lights, and solar power systems to operate our Water Utility and maintenance facility.  We’ve enhanced our great Seniors programs and programs such as Project Shepherd and Meals on Wheels to help those in need in our community. And, we’ve expanded our recreation facilities to include our four legged family members with the opening of Home Run Dog Park. And all the while we have maintained a balanced budget thru strong fiscal management and oversight, surviving the Great Recession years with no reduction in services or staffing.

I believe the experience, knowledge and leadership skills I’ve gained serving on City Council are more important now than ever before.  As our City faces more fiscal and regulatory challenges from the State and Federal Government it is important that our elected leaders know how to respond quickly and protect our community values and priorities.

I ask for your support and your vote on March 7th so that I may continue to serve our community as your Council Member.
